Abuse and violence can happen to anyone. Contrary to stereotypes domestic violence has no boundaries, there is no demographic or culture that is immune.
The size of the problem is staggering, especially in Alberta. Even current statistics are believed to underrepresent the presence of domestic violence as the issue is underreported due to the associated stigma.
While current support systems are able to help many survivors that come forward, a gap exists in services and supports for survivors who are experiencing or have experienced domestic violence and seek premium, discrete and confidential services. The One supports survivors (and their families) who have been repressed, unheard or undermined by their abuser(s) or the system and empowers them to believe in their abilities and the abilities of their families to change their lives.
